A Delegation from the Republic of India Has Arrived in Kalmykia

The delegation’s visit is being carried out within the framework of the previously signed memorandum on cooperation in the sphere of education and culture.

The delegation, consisting of representatives of the International Center for Culturology Dr. Ashish Bhave and Mr. Suresh Soni, and of the Deputy Secretary General of the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace Sonam Wangchuk, visited “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” where a meeting took place with the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Honorary Representative of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Russia, Mongolia and the CIS countries Telo Tulku Rinpoche.

A tour of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia for the honored guests was conducted by the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche, upon completion of which the parties discussed questions of further cooperation.

Also on this day, at the National Museum of Kalmykia a meeting took place with the heads of the cultural institutions of the Republic of Kalmykia, at which the prospects and forms of cooperation were discussed, following which a proposal was voiced to hold a festival of Kalmyk culture in India.
