A Lotus Stupa Opened in the Village of Burannoe, Lagan District

The ceremony of opening and consecrating the stupa was led by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, the honorary representative of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Russia, Mongolia, and the CIS countries, Telo Tulku Rinpoche. Together with the monks of the central and Lagan khuruls, the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia performed the ablution ritual “Chusol,” the consecration ritual “Rabne,” and made a sang offering to all enlightened beings.

Before the beginning of the prayer service, the Supreme Lama of Kalmykia congratulated everyone present on this day, significant for all residents and natives of the village. “Today is a spiritual holiday for all of us, during which we can accumulate buyan (good merit). The construction of a khurul or a stupa is a very good example of the unity of people. I am one hundred percent sure that every resident of the village took part in the construction of the stupa, no one stood aside,” Rinpoche stated. “When there is a common interest, we get such a beautiful result. And I ask you all to pray today together with the monks for the benefit of all living beings and for a good future for the younger generation,” he added.

The construction of the stupa took a little over a year. According to the head of the organizing committee, Lyudmila Nimgirova, the idea of erecting the stupa was supported by all the people of Burannoe, as well as natives of the village now living beyond its borders. Invaluable help in erecting the stupa was provided by Mikhail Kokaev, who acted as the supervisor of the construction. Mikhail has extensive experience in erecting religious structures in accordance with all canons; earlier, with his direct participation, stupas were erected in his native village of Gashun-Burgusta, as well as in the village of Chkalovsky in the Ketchenerovsky district. Also on this day, the participants of the construction were awarded letters of gratitude from the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, the administration of the Lagan RMO, and the Burannoe SMO.

At the end of the prayer service, a festive concert was held, in which local groups and the popular performer of folk songs Dmitry Sharaev took part.
