The Abbot of the Drepung Gomang Monastic University, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso, to Visit Kalmykia

Tomorrow, August 29, the abbot of the Drepung Gomang monastic university, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso, will make a working visit to Kalmykia.

This is his first official visit to Russia after being appointed to such a high post — abbot of the ancient Buddhist monastery in which our Kalmyk monks have historically received their spiritual education.

The program of His Eminence's visit includes a meeting with the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia and the monks of the Central Khurul, as well as visits to the khuruls of several districts of the republic:

✅On August 29, at 2:00 p.m., Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso will visit the khurul in the village of Malye Derbety, where he will bestow brief instructions and the transmission of mantras, and will also lead a prayer service.

✅On August 30, at 9:00 a.m., the abbot will arrive at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” where he will take part in the morning prayer service and bestow a blessing upon the faithful.

✅And on August 31, His Eminence will visit the Lagan Dargyeling Khurul, where he will hold a prayer service dedicated to the Medicine Buddha.

✅On September 1, the abbot's visit to Kalmyk State University is planned, where a meeting with students will be organized, and later he will be introduced to the work of the Buddhist studies laboratory.

✅On September 2, the venerable Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso will visit the Ketchenerovsky District.
