An acting Shajin Lama of Kalmykia has been elected.

Today, at a general assembly of the monastic Sangha, in which the gelungs of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” and of the republic’s districts took part, a candidate was elected who will temporarily serve as Acting Supreme Lama of Kalmykia. It was the abbot of the Central Khurul — Geshe Tenzin Choydak (Mutul Ovyanov). Also during the assembly, three candidates were chosen from among the monks — Geshe Tenzin Choydak (Ovyanov Mutul Vladimirovich), Gelung Lobsang Tsondu (Khartskhaev Andzha Aleksandrovich), and Gelung Tenzin Norzang (Mukabenov Sanal Badmaevich). His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will confirm one of them as Shajin Lama of Kalmykia.
