Admission open at the Men-tsee-khang Institute of Tibetan Medicine and Astrology, Dharamsala, India


The Men-Tsee-Khang Institute of Tibetan Medicine and Astrology (Sowa-Rigpa) announces its second intake of full-time international students, for the study of the Tibetan language and further admission to the main course “Menpa Kachupa” — Tibetan Medicine (Sowa-Rigpa) in 2022. The language course for the study of Tibetan in preparation for the entrance exams to the Institute of Tibetan Medicine and Astrology will begin on October 1, 2021; the duration of the course will be 8 months. After completing the preparatory language course, graduates will have the opportunity to take the entrance exams for admission to the main program “Menpa Kachupa” — Tibetan Medicine, which will begin in July 2022. Study in the main program “Menpa Kachupa” includes: 6 months of an introductory course, 5 years of the main program and one year of internship. Requirements for applicants: Basic level of the Tibetan language. Age from 18 to 35 years, which may be extended to 37 years based on the results of an individual interview with the applicant. Applicants from the Russian Federation and Mongolia must provide letters of recommendation from the Center of Tibetan Culture and Information, Moscow. Admission to the language course for the study of Tibetan does not confirm admission to the main course “Menpa Kachupa.” Enrollment in the main course will be made on the basis of the results of the entrance exams. Accommodation of language course students from the Russian Federation and Mongolia: lodging, meals and study will be organized at the Thangtong Lugar Institute. The cost of the 8-month Tibetan language course (including study, lodging and meals) will be 75,350 Indian rupees. Interested applicants must arrive in Dharamsala no later than September 18, 2021, in order to begin classes on October 1, 2021.
