Already Tomorrow

Dear friends! Already tomorrow, May 29, on the eve of the sacred month of “Urs Sar,” on the territory near the natural landmark “The Lonely Poplar,” from 9:00 to 10:30 the ritual “Öördin Orna Teñgrin Sang” will take place. The monks will prepare everything necessary for the ritual, but those who wish may bring säñgin idän with them. At 11:30 the first tournament of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia in national sports “Erin Hurvn Naadn” (the three manly games) will begin. It will be held not far from the Lonely Poplar, on the territory near the windmills. Erin Hurvn Naadn, or the three manly contests, are contests in national wrestling (bök bärldän), archery (kharvan), and horse racing (urldan). All who wish may take part. A mandatory condition is having a passport with registration in the Republic of Kalmykia and having a Kalmyk costume. Tournament participants will also need to take out insurance (it can be arranged at the tournament site; the cost is about 100–120 rubles). For athletes younger than 18, a mandatory condition is having a certificate confirming the absence of contraindications to participation in competitions, or the written consent of one of the parents for participation in the tournament. Registration of participants is until 11:30. You can reach the venue by personal transport or use the shuttle buses, which will depart from the khurul parking lot on Ilyumzhinov Street from 7:00; the fare is 50 rubles. We recommend bringing headwear or umbrellas.
