Creative Ensembles of the Republic Presented Another Musical Offering to the Three Jewels
The Musical Offering that took place today by the walls of the Central Khurul once again began with an ancient prayerful invocation — the mantra “Buddham Saranam Gacchami.” Its translation — “I take refuge in the Buddha, in the Dharma, in the Sangha” — reveals the essence of what is happening: this is not merely a concert, but a spiritual gift presented with a pure heart.
For more than ten years now, the participants and organizers of this cultural and religious event have been delighting the residents and guests of our Kalmykia, creating an atmosphere of unity and reverence. The tradition has become firmly woven into the life of the republic, becoming a symbol of the connection between spiritual values and national art.
Addressing the participants, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, noted the importance and significance of the Musical Offering. He called upon the performers to create sincerely, with pure intentions and an awareness of the depth of what is taking place — to present their art as a spiritual gift to the Three Jewels.
Despite the overcast weather, several hundred musicians and vocalists from all across the republic gathered on the square in front of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.” Spectators of various ages were also present — for each of them this day became a special one. It is connected with the beginning of the sacred month of Urs Sar — a time when, according to Buddhist teaching, virtuous deeds bring a manifoldly increased fruit. The opportunity to take part in such a large-scale, sacred act filled the hearts of all present with joy and spiritual elation.
