An Avalokiteshvara sand mandala to be created in Kalmykia

Once again, at the invitation of the Central Khurul, a delegation of monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery will arrive in Kalmykia, led by the Venerable Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche. At “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” the construction of a sand mandala will begin on September 16. This time the monks from India will create the mandala of Avalokiteshvara. The process of building the palace of the Bodhisattva of Compassion will take place over 6 days, and on October 14 the ceremony of its dismantling will be held. Everyone will have the opportunity to behold the result of the monks' very painstaking, many-day labor. It is worth noting that from September 16 to 20, daily at 18:00, in the khurul the Venerable Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche will give a lecture on the topic: “The Precious Rosary of the Teachings of the Philosophical Schools.”

The monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery will also perform special rites and build mandalas in the settlements of Ketchenery, Malye Derbety, Yashkul, Tsagan-Aman, and in the town of Lagan.

Here, in this post, we attach the full schedule for both the city of Elista and the districts. And, of course, local residents will have the opportunity to receive instructions from the Venerable Sangpo Rinpoche.
