Buddhist Stupas Erected at the Central Khurul of Kalmykia

This past Saturday, at the Central Khurul of Kalmykia “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” a ceremony of installing and consecrating stupas took place. The day before, the monks and volunteers of the khurul carried out the laying of the sacred objects in accordance with the Buddhist canons.

According to the monk of the Central Khurul, Gen Ngawang Lodoy, who supervises the work on the making and erecting of stupas, it has become a good tradition for families and clans to offer Buddhist stupas as a gift to the khurul. “A stupa is a symbol of the mind of the Buddha, and by erecting such sacred objects, people accumulate virtue, which will positively affect both this and subsequent lives.” “It is not so important what kind of stupa a person erects; the most important thing is their motivation, pure thoughts, and a kind heart,” Gen Lodoy added.
