On the Day of the Tsagan Sar Celebration, the Central Khurul Will Grant One-Day Mahayana Vows
🙏Begin the day with deep meaning — live it mindfully, following the wise counsel of the Buddha! 🙏
On the day of the national holiday Tsagan Sar, February 18, the Central Khurul invites all who wish to take part in the ceremony of taking the one-day Mahayana vows. The start is at 6:00 in the morning.
We have spoken many times about this profound spiritual practice. During the ceremony you will take eight vows that will help purify the mind and strengthen spiritual discipline:
Refraining from killing.
Refraining from stealing.
Refraining from lying.
Refraining from sexual misconduct.
Refraining from the use of alcohol, tobacco and intoxicating substances.
Refraining from sitting on a “high” throne.
Refraining from singing songs, playing musical instruments and dancing.
Refraining from adornments, cosmetics and perfumery, as well as from eating food in the afternoon.
The vows will be granted by the venerable Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso.
Afterwards, at 8:00, the ritual of offering torma to the goddess Okon Tengri (“Tsogt Okn Tengrin shinin balng örgh yosn”) will be performed. There will also be a solemn prayer service dedicated to the national holiday Tsagan Sar.
On the same day, at 18:00, in the khurul’s conference hall, the next lecture by Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso will take place, where he will continue to give commentary on one of the most revered sutras among Buddhists — the “Sutra of Golden Light” (Kalmyk — “Altn gerl”).
This gathering is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your understanding of the sacred text and receive instructions directly from an experienced Teacher.
We invite you to join these significant events! May the Tsagan Sar holiday bring you joy, spiritual renewal and grace.
