Representatives of the Republic's Clergy Honored the Memory of Those Who Died During the Great Patriotic War
With gratitude to our ancestors. Today, on the Day of the Great Victory, members of the Interreligious Council of Kalmykia laid flowers at the “Eternal Flame” memorial.
The solemn event was led by the head of the administration of the Central Khurul Yonten-gelung, Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia, and the assistant to the Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kalmykia Asludin Kalabegov. The monks of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”, the clergy of the Kazan Cathedral of Elista, and the students of the Cossack class of the Russian National Gymnasium named after Saint Sergius of Radonezh also took part in the flower-laying ceremony.
Those gathered expressed words of gratitude to our ancestors for their military feat and enormous contribution to the cause of preserving and maintaining peace.
“Today in all houses of worship of the country, regardless of faith and nationality, prayers are offered for all those who died during the Great Patriotic War. Thanks to them, we today live in a free country, we can confidently look to the future. And as our ancestors bequeathed then, we strive to live together, in harmony, in interethnic and interreligious unity. This is our strength — happy holiday to all!” Yonten-gelung addressed the gathering in his speech. And each religious representative emphasized in his speech the importance of preserving the memory of the events of those years.
