A consecration ceremony of the Kalmyk people’s banners was held at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”

A ceremony to consecrate the banners most important to our people, which the Central Khurul reconstructed with remarkable precision, was held solemnly and vividly.

This is the banner of Daichi Tengri, presented by the great His Holiness the 5th Dalai Lama to the Dzungar Galdan Boshugtu Khan. This is the banner of Noyon Eselbein Sain-Ka, under which the Oirat state was created, and the banner granted by Elizaveta Petrovna to Khan Donduk Dashi, which completed the process of the Kalmyks’ voluntary entry into Russia.

The senior administrator of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”, Yonten Gelung, explained to those gathered that it was precisely under the shadow of these great Buddhist banners that our ancestors united into a people, that under them they created states, and under them they defended their lands. “And today we have recreated them so that we may feel the strength of spirit of our ancestors, which we must without fail direct toward creation, the preservation of peace, and well-being. Today, more than ever, we must be united. Let us be worthy of our ancestors!”, noted Yonten Lodoy.

The Head of Kalmykia, Batu Khasikov, took part in the event and thanked everyone who worked on this important and needed project, especially noting the fundamental, painstaking work of the scholar and researcher Gennady Korneev. “This is a truly historic event. May it be a symbol that, no matter what difficulties arise, we will move forward, inspired, optimistic, feeling the spirit of our ancestors, the spirit of victors”, Batu Sergeevich addressed everyone.

After the consecration ceremony, the faithful were able to bow before the sacred banners, offering prayers to the burkhans, whom they asked for peace and harmony.

On this day, all who wished attended a screening of a documentary film about the banners, prepared by the creative team of the “Bumba” media holding, and also attended the presentation of Gennady Korneev’s book “The Sacred Banners of the Oirats and Kalmyks”.

Dear compatriots, the sacred banners will now be kept in the khurul.
