Construction of a Sand Mandala Has Begun in Kalmykia
Chanting prayers, a monastic delegation from Drepung Gomang Monastery, led by Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche, consecrated the site for the future mandala. This time in Kalmykia it was decided to construct a mandala of the deity of Compassion — Avalokiteshvara.
As the monks noted, all who are present at the construction itself and those who will behold it afterward must without fail visualize the deity itself, its sand palace, and recite mantras, thereby accumulating great spiritual merit.
Having done everything necessary, as the Buddhist tradition requires, the monks from India immediately began laying out the outline of the future mandala. Ahead of them lies painstaking work over many days. Anyone who wishes may come and contemplate the process of building the sand mandala and make circumambulations — all of this will surely be of benefit. By the way, during these days, daily at 18:00 at the Central Khurul, the venerable Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche will give a lecture on the topic “The Precious Rosary of the Teachings of the Philosophical Schools.”
