Day of Remembrance and Mourning in Kalmykia. The 82nd Anniversary of the Deportation of the Kalmyk People to Siberia
Хәәрхн, дәкнәс тиим һашута йовдл бичә учртха. Эндр Хальмг Таңһчд Санлын өдр... Кезә чигн эн зовлңгта 13 җилмүд мартгдшо. The Day of Remembrance and Mourning of the Kalmyk people at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” began with the “Yöräl” prayer service. Today the monks of the Central Khurul offered their prayers for all those who perished during the period of the deportation, prayers that such tragedies may never happen anywhere again.
Later, memorial events were held at the “Exodus and Return” memorial complex. Every year hundreds of people gather here, hundreds of those whose ээжи and аавы, whose mothers and fathers went through the Siberian exile. More than eight decades have already passed since that fateful day, December 28, 1943, yet the memory lives on, the recollections live on, and they will remain with our people forever…
