Days of Indian Culture Begin in Kalmykia

Today the Days of Indian Culture began in Kalmykia.

In the morning, a distinguished delegation from India led by Ms. Nandini Singla, Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, visited the Central Khurul. A warm and substantive meeting took place with the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak.

During the conversation, Ms. Nandini Singla expressed sincere respect for the Buddhist traditions of Kalmykia and emphasized the importance of further developing shared cultural ties. Particular attention was paid to the development of Buddhist education.

Ms. Singla offered to assist in sending teaching staff in Buddhist philosophy and other disciplines to Kalmykia. In addition, she spoke about the student support program implemented by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations: providing scholarships for students from Kalmykia at leading universities in India, and organizing ongoing education and exchange of experience. The Shajin Lama thanked the guests for their initiatives and noted that such cooperation is an important step toward deepening mutual understanding and strengthening the friendship between the peoples of Kalmykia and India.
