December 28 — Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Deportation of the Kalmyk People

Today, December 28, on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Deportation of the Kalmyk People, in the morning the monks at the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia held a special “Yöräl” prayer service, offering prayers for everyone who did not survive the years of deportation, for all whom this terrible exile touched.

And, of course, so that such a thing would never happen again  at the memorial gathering that is held every year at the “Exodus and Return” monument, the senior administrator of the Central Khurul, Yonten-Gelung, also held a prayer service in memory of all those deported. Each of those gathered there today remembered their ancestors, thanked them for their strength and endurance, for the opportunity to live a peaceful life today, thanked the Burkhans and the Protectors for the fact that under their patronage our people endured and today can look confidently into the future.

May no one ever see such grief again!
