The eminent Buddhist teacher Lama Zopa Rinpoche entered post-death meditation this morning
A great loss… Today, in his 77th year, Lama Zopa Rinpoche passed away🙏🙏🙏
He is one of the great Buddhist mentors, the author of a number of books and the spiritual head of the international network of Buddhist centers of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition. Along with being considered one of the classical teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, he was also a very modern mentor with a distinctive style of presenting Buddhist knowledge…
The Shajin Lama Tenzin Choydak and the monastic Sangha of Kalmykia express their deep condolences to all believers in connection with the passing of the venerable Teacher. Today everyone prays for the swift and happy rebirth of Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
The esteemed Zopa Rinpoche was born in 1946 in Nepal and at the age of 5 was recognized as the reincarnation of a great yogi — the Lama of Lawudo. From the age of 10 he studied at the Dungkar monastery in Tibet. He was to study at the Sera Je monastery in Lhasa, but was forced to flee to India, where he became a disciple of Lama Thubten Yeshe. It is also known that he was a close disciple of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and often held retreats for reciting mantras, whose geography is very wide: they were held in France, Italy, Australia, Nepal, and also in Russia, including in Kalmykia. The accomplishments of Lama Zopa Rinpoche and his contribution to the cause of peace serve as incredible testimony to Rinpoche's immense compassion for other people.
