An Eminent Teacher from Drepung Gomang Monastery, Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso, Is Arriving in Kalmykia

Tomorrow, May 7, an eminent Teacher from Drepung Gomang Monastery, Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso, is arriving in Kalmykia. For several months the venerable Jagba Gyatso will give Teachings for the faithful of the steppe republic, meetings with young people will be organized, and on May 9 the esteemed guest will also take part in a large prayer service dedicated to the beginning of the Urs Sar celebration.

As the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, noted, back last year, during the days of the visit to our republic of the abbot of Drepung Gomang Monastery, the venerable Khen Rinpoche, an agreement was reached that eminent Teachers would periodically visit “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”: “And so tomorrow we welcome our guest, who for many years has been teaching at the oldest Buddhist monastery-university, Drepung Gomang. Each of us has the opportunity to receive knowledge from him, to receive answers to all questions of interest about Buddhism.”

Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso himself entered the path of the Dharma right after school. 20 years ago he completed his full course of study at Gomang. He worked as a teacher for the monks studying there and served as the disciplinarian of Drepung Gomang Monastery.

In our following posts we will present in more detail the schedule of the stay in Kalmykia of the venerable Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso
