The exams of the students of the Drepung Gomang monastery-university have concluded at the Central Khurul of Kalmykia “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”

Due to the difficult situation with the coronavirus infection in the world, a number of students took their exams at home, at  “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.”  Recall that, for the first time in modern history, exams in Kalmykia for monk-students were held  last year, when the Covid-19 pandemic began.

The exams were held from November 4 to 6. On the first day debates took place, during which the monks demonstrated their skills in conducting debates and giving reasoned answers to the questions posed. On the second and third days the students took philosophy and grammar, respectively. The examination board included doctors of Buddhist philosophy: the umze of the Central Khurul Geshe Tsoglam, the duganchi of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” Geshe Jamyang, as well as Geshe Janchub and Geshe Thinley.

Upon completion of the exams, the students’ written works, as well as photo and video materials of the exams, were sent to the Drepung Gomang monastery-university, where after a month and a half the results will be announced and a decision will be made on advancing the students to the next courses.
