Festive Torma for Tsagan Sar Are Ready

The great prayer hall of the Central Khurul will now be adorned with five multi-tiered Torma specially prepared for the national holiday of Tsagan Sar, depicting various deities. For the past three weeks, they were meticulously crafted by a monk invited from India, the venerable Geshe Lharampa Choy Gyatso.

Carefully sculpted by hand, with fine attention to detail, each Torma is truly a genuine work of Buddhist art. The faithful of Kalmykia and guests of the capital will be able to behold this beauty in “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” starting February 18. Geshe Choy Gyatso is also currently working on creating Torma for the museum of the Central Khurul.
