For boundless love, for help, for the chance to comprehend the bestowed Buddhist Teaching, we offer our prayers to the Teacher
Today all prayers, all offerings are for him, Buddha Shakyamuni. Every year on the 15th lunar day of the sacred month of Urs Sar, the faithful celebrate the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Great Teacher into mahaparinirvana.
At the Central Khurul of Kalmykia, this day was traditionally observed with solemnity. Both monks and laypeople gave thanks to the Buddha for his boundless love, for his help, and for the chance to comprehend the Teaching he bestowed.
The overflowing prayer hall, listening to the chanted prayers of the clergy, asked the Great Teacher for even greater wisdom, compassion, and kindness… As the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, noted, on such a sacred day one should perform as many virtuous deeds as possible, cause no harm to anyone, and be kind and sincere even in one’s thoughts.
Every year on this day, the residents and guests of our republic have the opportunity to venerate the sacred relics of Buddha Shakyamuni and receive his blessing. Everyone who wishes may view this exhibition throughout the day, until 19:00. We remind you that Kalmykia is the only place in Europe where the relics of the Buddha are kept.
