From October 12 to 18, every believer has the opportunity to venerate the Buddha himself

With trembling hearts, with great joy and with tears in their eyes, today Kalmykia welcomed the sacred relics of Buddha Shakyamuni. This is a truly historic event! The ceremonial bus that carried the sacred objects from the airport to the Central Khurul was met by believers forming a “living corridor.” Dressed festively in national costumes, chanting “Migzem” — for everyone this day was special, for it was like a meeting with the Buddha himself.

A distinguished delegation of more than 50 people arrived in Elista from India. Among them were representatives of the Ministry of Culture of India, of the National Museum, venerable monks headed by His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, and members of the International Buddhist Confederation. In their speeches they noted that these relics have been venerated and carefully preserved for more than 2000 years. They were passed down from generation to generation. And today the sacred objects were presented before the people of Kalmykia, who are devoted to the Teaching of the Buddha. It is important to emphasize that the mere presence of the relics here brings blessings to all believers, to the entire republic, to our entire country.

The head of the region Batu Khasikov, and the Monastic Sangha headed by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak, thanked India for such a gift, for such an opportunity to behold and venerate the sacred objects in their own republic. An enormous amount of work was carried out by the two countries. And the result of this cooperation is the happy faces of the believers.

From tomorrow morning, from 7.00 to 9.00, everyone who wishes has the opportunity to visit the exhibition of the sacred relics. In the afternoon the exhibition will continue, from 13.00 to 18.00.
