From the Interfaith Council of Kalmykia

Today, on Victory Day, members of the Interfaith Council of Kalmykia laid flowers at the Memorial to the Heroes of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War in Elista. As Yonten Gelung, senior administrator of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”, said, representatives of all the main faiths of the republic — Buddhists, Orthodox Christians, Muslims — lay flowers to pay tribute to the memory of all those who died in the Great Patriotic War. Words of gratitude to our grandfathers were also expressed by Justinian, Archbishop of Elista and Kalmykia, and by Radzhab Ziyautdinov, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kalmykia.
