Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso Bestowed a Blessing on the Faithful of Kalmykia

“We are bound by ancient historical ties. I am immensely glad to be present today in the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia, to see that the Dharma is developing here and the monastic Sangha is flourishing. I know that your khurul is distinguished precisely by its pure monastic community, which I am sure will expand and be replenished with new monks,” noted the abbot of the Drepung Gomang monastery, Khen Rinpoche Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso, in his address today to the residents of the republic, having arrived in Kalmykia the day before.

Today a great many of the faithful came to “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” to pay their respects to His Eminence. Everyone wished not only to receive a blessing from the distinguished guest, but also to offer prayers with him for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak recounted that it has already become historically established that all Kalmyk monks receive their spiritual education at Drepung Gomang. And today, among the nearly 2,000 students, there are also representatives of our people. This is yet another confirmation that the bond laid down several centuries ago grows stronger and develops with each passing time.

And we remind you that tomorrow, August 31, Geshe Lharampa Jigme Gyatso will visit the Lagan District, where he will also take part in the morning large prayer service.
