Geshe Tenzin Thinley to Bestow Teachings


On Saturday, November 13, a lecture on the fundamentals of Buddhism will take place at the Central Khurul. The Teaching will be bestowed by the venerable Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Thinley. Geshe Tenzin Thinley was born on April 7, 1973, in Ladakh, in the region of Zanskar. At the age of 6, he took monastic vows from Teacher Geshe Jamyang Kyentse and began studying the Buddhist sciences. Geshe-la studied the first courses of Buddhist philosophy in his homeland, in Ladakh. In 1986, he came to the Drepung Gomang Monastery, where he enrolled in the monastery school and continued his studies. In 2002, he completed his full studies at the monastery and began taking the “General Gelugpa” exams, which lasted for 6 years. In 2008, he defended the title of “Geshe Lharampa,” studied at the tantric monastery “Gyuto,” and taught Buddhist philosophy at the Drepung Gomang school. For 7 years, in his homeland, in Ladakh, at the local monastery “Bhuktar,” Geshe-la bestowed the fundamentals of Buddhism for the novices of the monastery and the parishioners. Then Geshe-la returned to Drepung Gomang and until 2021 taught Buddhist philosophy at the monastery. The lectures will take place over the course of one month, on Saturdays and Sundays, in the Dugan of the Central Khurul. The lectures begin at 4:00 p.m.
