A Green Tara Mandala Dissolution Ceremony Was Held at the Central Khurul

Today at the Central Khurul the assembled believers received a lesson in impermanence and non-attachment. Everyone witnessed how easily the mandala was dissolved — the very one that the monks had so painstakingly built over the course of several days, laying down grain of sand after grain of sand. “It does not matter at all how much labor was invested, how beautiful the Deity’s palace turned out to be in the end — we must not allow ourselves to become attached to the outer form. Everything in this world is subject to destruction; everything that has arisen, and the mandala is no exception,” noted Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche.

Just a few strokes, and the sand temple was destroyed. Dividing the collected sand into two parts, the monks set off for the city reservoir to offer the sand as a gift to the Nagas and to the masters of the locality, with a request to accept it and to spread the blessing throughout the whole world. The other part was distributed to the believers, for despite the fact that the mandala dissolution ceremony had taken place, the sand itself possesses powerful energy and purifying force.

In his speech, the Venerable Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche thanked the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, for the warm welcome of their delegation and for the excellent organization of the tour. During their 21 days in Kalmykia, they built 3 different mandalas in the republic, performed a great many special rituals, and transmitted the Teaching of the Buddha to the believers. May all these actions be solely for the benefit of all sentient beings
