The Heads of the Buddhists of Kalmykia and Buryatia Discussed the Prospects for the Development of Buddhism in Their Regions
The day before in Ulan-Ude, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, and the Pandito Khambo Lama of Buryatia, Damba Ayusheev, discussed the prospects for the development of Buddhism in their regions. As a reminder, the II International Buddhist Forum will be held there in the coming days. The organizers are already welcoming the participants of this large-scale event.
At the meeting, the heads of the Buddhists of the two republics told each other about the work being carried out locally, about how important it is to preserve the traditions and culture of their peoples, and, of course, touched upon the topic of engaging with the younger generation.
“This, in my opinion, is one of the important topics that must be constantly raised, making efforts to involve young people in interesting projects whose goal is to teach an understanding of morality, humanity, kindness and love for all living beings. We also touched upon the issue of educating clergy, developing the work of translating sacred texts into the native language; on the whole the conversation turned out to be constructive and interesting,” Geshe Tenzin Choydak noted in a telephone conversation with us.
In just a few days, the Republic of Buryatia will open its doors to the participants of the International Buddhist Forum for the second time. Clergy, believers, and scholars from 15 countries around the world are expected to arrive. We will certainly be following and telling you, dear subscribers, about the progress of the forum. Stay tuned to our materials.
