His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has confirmed Geshe Tenzin Choydak (Mutul Ovyanov) as Shajin Lama of Kalmykia.

As a reminder, on January 31, at a general assembly of the monastic Sangha, in which the gelungs of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” and of the republic’s districts took part, three candidates from among the monks were chosen so that the Dalai Lama would confirm one of them as Shajin Lama of Kalmykia. Today the candidacy of Geshe Mutul Ovyanov was approved. The monastic Sangha of Kalmykia congratulates Geshe-la with wishes for fruitful work in the post of Supreme Lama of the Kalmyk people. They are convinced that Geshe Mutul will bring great benefit to the further development of Buddhism in the Republic of Kalmykia
