“Ik Yöräl” prayer services to be held in Kalmykia in early March.
A special spiritual event. From March 1 to 3, the “Ik Yöräl” prayer services will be held in the main Buddhist temple of Kalmykia. They fall within the sacred 15-day period after the onset of Tsagan Sar — a time when the power of prayers is stronger. It was in these very days, several millennia ago, that Buddha Shakyamuni performed his 15 great deeds. Buddhists believe that every virtuous deed performed at this time is multiplied many times over. But responsibility also increases — for negative actions likewise grow stronger in their influence.
Every day, from March 1 to 3, there will be two prayer sessions: a morning one — from 9:00 to 11:30; and a daytime one — from 13:00 to 15:00. And on the final day, March 3, a special event will take place — the ceremony of taking the one-day Mahayana vows. They will be bestowed by the Venerable Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso. The ceremony begins at 6:00 in the morning.
Dear believers, during the “Ik Yöräl” period there will be no individual receptions at the khurul.
