In 3 Days Kalmykia’s Musicians Will Make an Offering Through Their Art
A long-awaited event will take place at the end of this week — a Musical Offering to the Three Jewels. It is gratifying that each time more and more people take part in it, with an especially large number of those eager to join among the younger generation.
These days intensive preparation is under way at the Kalmyk Dombra Studio in the 8th microdistrict of Elista. As the Studio’s teachers Bova Munanova and Tatyana Ednyasheva noted, they have prepared more than 70 participants for the Musical Offering — children aged 7 to 15, as well as about a dozen adults who have completed an express course in playing the Kalmyk dombra. “Many adults come to study with us not only to fulfill their childhood dream, but also to take part in a large combined Orchestra of dombra players who will offer their musical art to the Three Jewels,” Bova Davidovna shared with us.
The teachers said that the four large pieces that will be performed on September 21 on the grounds of the Central Khurul are already fully prepared. Now they are working on the synchronicity and purity of the sound. Among the students of the Kalmyk Dombra Studio there are those who have already taken part in this grand musical and religious event, and there are those who will do so for the first time. The children’s parents are very glad to have the opportunity, through art, to be part of such a truly great project.
