An international scientific and practical conference was held in Vladikavkaz


“Interreligious dialogue as the foundation of peace in the Balkans.” Under this title, an international scientific and practical conference was recently held in Vladikavkaz. The Buddhists of Kalmykia were represented at it by the senior administrator of the Central Khurul, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, Yonten Gelung (Sergey Kirishov).

More than a hundred representatives of different religions from 17 countries of the world took part in the conference.
At the round-table sessions that were held, participants discussed the inadmissibility of the destructive use of religious and national factors in achieving geopolitical interests. They raised the topic of interreligious dialogue as a factor of socio-political stability in various regions of the world, in particular the prevention of conflict between Kosovo Albanians and Serbs. They noted the potential of the mass media to reduce points of conflict in interethnic and interreligious matters. Specific initiatives were put forward, and a resolution was adopted.

The organizer of this large-scale event was the coordination center of the Muslims of the North Caucasus, with the assistance of the Foundation for the Support of Islamic Culture, Science and Education
