Jenang of Manjushri - a Blessing Dedicated to the Start of the Academic Year


On August 31, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. (Ulan-Ude time), the Venerable Yeshe Lodoy Rinpoche will grant an online blessing - the jenang of Manjushri. The blessing is traditionally timed to coincide with the Day of Knowledge and is aimed at the development of spirituality, science, education and culture. Live broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Manjushri datsan (Tib. jampal yang, “Gentle Splendor”), or Manjughosha (Tib. jamyang) - the bodhisattva of wisdom in the Mahayana tradition. Manjushri is one of the Eight Great Bodhisattvas, or the Eight Close Sons. In Vajrayana - one of the lords of the “Three Enlightened Families,” representing the three qualities of the Buddha: wisdom (Manjushri), compassion (Avalokiteshvara) and power (Vajrapani). The practices of Manjushri are aimed at overcoming ignorance and developing wisdom through study, remembrance and contemplation. Performing practices connected with Manjushri also improves the memory and increases the capacity to comprehend the sciences.
