Kalmykia Hosts the “Һazr Täklhn” Earth Worship Ritual

For the benefit of all sentient beings, for the benefit of their happiness and well-being, the monks of the Central Khurul offered prayers to the Burkhans today. On the eve of the sacred month of Urs Sar, the “Һazr Täklhn” ritual was traditionally held at the “Lonely Poplar.”

The faithful brought their gifts as offerings, mainly white foods and incense. It should be noted that first they are cleansed of impurities, consecrated, and only then offered with a request that all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Protectors of the Dharma, and the guardians of the locality partake of them through fire.

“Today, during the prayer service, it is important for each of us to turn to the Burkhans not only for personal well-being, but for the opportunity for every sentient being to live a happy life; we should come to any ritual with such pure motivation,” Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Geshe Tenzin Choydak noted, addressing those gathered.

Taking part in such ceremonies allows everyone to accumulate an incredible amount of good merit, all the more so as the sacred month for all Buddhists — Urs Sar — is approaching. This year it falls on May 28.
