Kalmykia to Hold Annual Tantric Rituals
For two decades in a row now, the Central Khurul has annually performed tantric rituals. They can rightly be called one of the main events in the spiritual life of Kalmykia. For many centuries our ancestors performed such tantric rites.
So, this year the monks will begin with the ritual of removing obstacles, “Torgyak,” which will take place on October 1 in two sessions, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., continuing from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
On Thursday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the fire puja offering ritual “Jinseg” will be performed.
On October 5 the faithful will take part in the ritual of invoking well-being and good fortune, “Yangdrub,” which will also take place in two sessions.
And the series of annual tantric rituals will conclude with expressions of gratitude to the Protectors of the Teaching. On October 6 the “Tangrak Kangso” ritual will be held at the Central Khurul, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Every year our residents and guests of the republic take an active part in these grand prayer services, for even taking part in them and simply witnessing them is considered a great virtuous act for purification and the accumulation of merit.
Later, in our upcoming articles, we will tell you more about each of them.
