Kalmykia to host the 1st International Scientific and Practical Conference “Buddhist Education: Problems and Prospects of Development”


This was announced at a meeting at the press center of RIA Kalmykia by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche and the director of the KalmSC RAS Viktoriya Kukanova. The conference will be held online. It will be attended by representatives of academic circles from Moscow, St. Petersburg, and other regions of Russia; the conference will also be attended by representatives of India, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Vietnam, the USA, France, and Hungary. Such broad representation of the Buddhist community at the conference became possible thanks to the extensive connections of the Head of the Buddhists of Kalmykia, Telo Tulku Rinpoche. The conference will last three days and will conclude on April 30. Also at the meeting with journalists, Telo Tulku Rinpoche spoke about other events that will take place in the near future under the aegis of the Central Khurul of Kalmykia. Thus, on April 24 the visit of the Kamby Lama of Tuva and a delegation of the Tuvan clergy is expected; on April 26 a round table will be held on the theme “The Legacy of Lama Tsongkhapa in the Buddhist Regions of Russia,” and on the same day a scientific-practical seminar “Education for the Heart and Mind: Social-Emotional-Ethical Education” will take place. On April 27, a delegation from the Zabaykalsky Krai, headed by the rector of the Aginsk Buddhist Academy Chingiz Sultimov, will arrive to take part in the events of the Central Khurul dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Geden Sheddub Choy Korling Monastery. On the same day the consecration of the khurul in the village of Sarpa in the Ketchenerovsky District will take place.
