Kalmykia to Mark His Holiness’s Birthday with Wide Celebrations
On July 6, our spiritual leader — His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama — turns 89. On this day, all Buddhists of the world offer prayers for the longevity of the Precious Teacher. Festive events will traditionally be held at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.”
The celebration of His Holiness’s birthday will begin at 7.30 in the morning with the “Sangsol” ritual (a ritual of offering to the deities through fire). The venue is the square in front of the Buddhist temple.
The festivities will continue with a festive prayer service for the long life of our spiritual leader. It begins at 9.00. Afterward, everyone will be treated to fragrant jomba and delicious bortsoks.
And in the evening, at the city’s Victory Square (in “Druzhba” Park), there will be a concert by creative ensembles of Kalmykia, where the monks of the Central Khurul will treat all the guests of the celebration to a festive cake
