Kalmykia Widely Celebrated the 90th Birthday of His Holiness
Celebrations honoring the 90th birthday of our Precious Teacher, the 14th Dalai Lama, are taking place all over the world today.
The monks of the Central Khurul began this significant day with the Sangsol ritual. They offered their prayers for the good health of His Holiness, asking the Buddhas for the long life and well-being of the Spiritual Leader.
Then a great festive prayer service was held in the temple. The Head of the region, Batu Khasikov, also took part in it. Congratulating his fellow countrymen on this significant event, Batu Sergeyevich noted that the fate of the Kalmyk people is inseparably connected with the Dalai Lama: “He blessed our republic, which he always calls a special land for the world of Buddhism. The Teacher always instructs us to love our Homeland, to cherish it, to work for its prosperity. The Dalai Lama believes in us. And it is our duty to live up to this faith.”
Addressing the faithful, the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia emphasized that for millions of people the Dalai Lama is an example of wisdom and compassion, tolerance and love. And the news that our Great Teacher will live for another 40 years brings universal joy and happiness. “Today, on the birthday of the Dalai Lama, each of us is simply obliged to show love and compassion toward our neighbors, toward all living beings; this will be the best gift for His Holiness,” noted Geshe Tenzin Choydak.
And in the evening, a festive grand concert was traditionally held on Victory Square in Druzhba Park. Artistic ensembles of our city displayed their skill, delighting all those gathered. The monks of the Central Khurul, having consecrated the festive cakes, treated everyone. Particular delight was caused by a 2.5-meter cake assembled from 550 pastries. It truly turned out to be a nationwide celebration. Mana Dalai-bagsh ut nas naslҗ, hamg әmtnd tuslҗ, hәәrhn, oln җildәn madnla bәәthә!
