Kalmykia will mark “Nomin Kürdin Düütsng” — the Day of the First Turning of the Wheel of the Teaching
On July 21, this Friday, the believers of Kalmykia will mark “Nomin Kürdin Düütsng” — the Day of the First Turning of the Wheel of the Teaching.
It was on this day, more than 2500 years ago, that Buddha Shakyamuni bestowed his first Teaching after attaining Enlightenment. It was dedicated to the Four Noble Truths.
Every year at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” large festive events take place on this day.
✅At 8 a.m. the ritual “Määdrin ergts” will begin — a circumambulation by the monks and believers around the khurul, with the carrying out of the Maitreya statue and sacred texts.
✅At 9:00 a.m. the festive prayer service will take place
