Kalmykia will mark the birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama with major festive events
On July 6 we celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
At “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” festive events will traditionally be held on this day.
At 7:30 in the morning, on the square in front of the Buddhist temple, the monks will perform the special ritual “Sangsol,” an offering of incense to the deities and protector-guardians of the Dalai Lama.
Later, at 9:00, a festive prayer service for the long life of our spiritual leader will begin.
And in the evening, according to the established tradition, the celebration of the great Teacher's birthday will continue on the city's Victory Square (in Druzhba Park), where at 18:00 the administration of the city of Elista has prepared a concert of Kalmykia's creative groups, and the monks will treat the guests of the celebration to a festive cake.
