The “Kangso” and “Chasum” rituals were held at the Central Khurul today

Today is the 29th lunar day, matsg ödr. It is precisely on this day that prayers are offered to the Protectors of the Teaching, the Syakusni. From early morning, the monks of the Central Khurul performed the “Kangso” ritual. They praised and propitiated Okon Tengri, Mahakala, Nomin Khan and Bain Namsr, made specially prepared offerings to them, and thanked them for protecting the Teaching of the Buddha and all sentient beings. The faithful made offerings to them in the form of the Golden Drink — Serdzhm.

By tradition, on the eve of the national holiday Tsagan Sar, the “Chasum” ritual is always held at our khurul. Literally, “Chasum” means “Three-Hour Offering,” Hurvn Khüv. That is, the monks prepare three kinds of offering in advance — Torma. First they offer to all the supreme Deities, then to the Syakusni of the 10 directions, and the third torma is for removing the obstacles of all sentient beings. And it is precisely during the “Chasum” ritual that a special text is read to remove illnesses, negativity, and any obstacles. For this, pieces of dough are handed out to the faithful, with which they “roll” over themselves, thereby “gathering up” from themselves all the negativity, everything bad and unnecessary.

Tomorrow already, all of Kalmykia will celebrate Tsagan Sar. At 8:00 in the morning, a ritual dedicated to Okon Tengri will begin at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni.” We invite you, dear faithful, to attend our festive prayer service.
