Every month, on the 29th lunar day, the “Kangso” ritual, a ritual of appeal to the Protectors of the Dharma, is held at the Central Khurul
On this very day, the 29th lunar day of each month, at “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni” the monks offer their prayers to all the Protectors of the Buddhist Teaching, and the “Kangso” ritual is performed — a ritual of appeal to our Säküsnäm. Offerings are made to them in the form of the golden drink Serjm, specially prepared torma are presented, and prayers of propitiation and praise are recited, addressing them with great respect and love, asking them for help, which they will surely provide. As the clergy themselves note, during the ritual a special connection with the deities is created. Today the “Kangso” ritual was led by the Venerable Gyumed Khentul Rinpoche (Tulku Tenpa Puntsok).
In parallel with the rituals held during these days, construction of the sand mandala continues in the prayer hall of the Central Khurul. The delegation of monks that arrived from Drepung Gomang Monastery builds the Buddhist sacred object dedicated to the Medicine Buddha from early morning until late evening.
We have a small change in the schedule of the rituals. Tomorrow at the Central Khurul the “White Tara Long Life Empowerment” will be held. This ritual promotes the strengthening of health, longevity and the removal of threats to life. It begins at 9:00 a.m.
