Kyrgys Khuree Marks Its 250th Anniversary

Anniversary events dedicated to the 250th anniversary of Kyrgys khuree (khurul) were held in the Erzin District of the Republic of Tyva. The festival was attended by representatives of Mongolia, as well as of all the Russian regions that profess Buddhism. Kalmykia was represented at the celebrations by the senior administrator of the Central Khurul “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” Yonten-Gelung.

The festive events were preceded by a scientific and practical conference. After the ceremonial opening of the festival, a prayer service was held with the participation of Lamas from Tyva, Buryatia, Kalmykia, Altai, and Mongolia. A new Dugan was also consecrated.

On behalf of the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche and the entire monastic Sangha, Yonten-Gelung wished the brotherly Tuvan people well-being and success in all their endeavors.

The festive events concluded with the “Three Manly Games” — “Erin hurvn naadn.”
