Lectures on Jamyang Shepa's text “The Precious Garland of Tenets” are underway at the Central Khurul.

For several days now, at the Central Khurul, Geshe Lharampa Tenzin Sangpo Rinpoche has been giving a commentary on Jamyang Shepa's text “The Precious Garland of Tenets”. Together with the Teacher, participants of the lectures have already examined such topics as the difficulty of obtaining a human birth, impermanence, and death. In his teachings, Rinpoche noted that these themes are important and must be reflected upon, since only by realizing the fleeting nature of one's own life does a person begin to think about not letting life pass in vain and strive to accumulate merit through performing virtuous deeds in order to obtain a favorable rebirth in the next life.

The Venerable Sangpo Rinpoche emphasized that this text gives a clear definition of who can be considered a true Buddhist. It is a person who sincerely believes in the Three Jewels (the Buddha, the Buddha's Teaching, and the holy monastic community) and takes Refuge in them.

It was conveyed to the faithful that for Buddhists it is important not only to have faith but also to study the Precious Teaching of the Buddha. For Buddha Shakyamuni set forth many methods and means so that, having studied them, we may be able to free ourselves from all kinds of suffering and attain happiness both in this life and in future rebirths.

Participants of the lectures also spoke about the differences in the views of various philosophical schools. Today, September 20, the Teacher will hold the final session on this text. It begins at 18.00.
