The “Nas Utdulln” Life-Extension Rituals Continue
Every year, on the eve of the national holiday “Zul,” the monks of the Central Khurul perform special rituals for extending one's years. They do this through the three deities who preside over longevity in Buddhism: through White Tara (Tsahan Dark), Buddha Amitayus (Ayush Burkhn), and the goddess Ushnishavijaya (Namdzhl Burkhn).
Today is the 4th such ritual. Once again, they turned to Amitayus, the Buddha of longevity.
As on the previous days, the khurul was crowded. After all, only a week remains until the arrival of the Kalmyk New Year.
