A Lotus Stupa to Be Built at Kalmykia’s Airport
A seven-meter Lotus Stupa will be built on the grounds of the Elista airport.
The head of the region, Batu Khasikov, discussed this with the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak. It was determined that it will be erected on the square in front of the main entrance to the airport, which will allow our residents and guests of the republic to pray before and after their flight.
The Lotus Stupa was chosen precisely because it symbolizes the birth of the Buddha and will surely bring benefit and peace to all sentient beings.
“This is a very good and important decision. This Buddhist structure will be nothing but a benefit. The first thing everyone who steps out of the airport will see is the Stupa, which they will be able to approach, pray, and make offerings to, as will those who are setting off on a flight. Our monastic Sangha will be glad to help in the construction of the Stupa, which will certainly be erected in accordance with all Buddhist canons,” the Shajin Lama noted in his conversation with the region’s leadership.
Now the working group, together with the contractors, will begin developing the project; a special ritual for the redemption of the land will be conducted, after which the construction itself will begin.
