Despite the cold, windy weather, today at the Lonely Poplar
a large number of the faithful gathered and took part in the annual traditional rite of “Hazr Täklhn.”
All the prepared offerings — mainly white foods and incense — are first cleansed of impurities, consecrated, and only then offered to the fire. All this time, the monks of the Central Khurul offer prayers to all the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Protectors of the Dharma, and the guardians of the locality, asking them to partake of the prayer offerings and to help overcome all obstacles, so that the Buddhist Teaching may continue to develop here and bring benefit to all living beings. The clergy, together with the faithful, offering their gifts through the fire, also prayed for the prosperity of our land and our people.
As the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, noted, in the course of such rituals it is very important to generate within oneself a virtuous motivation, to accumulate buyn, and to dedicate these merits for the good, especially since very soon, on May 9, the sacred month of Urs Sar will begin
