Monks of the Central Khurul held a prayer service at the Green Tara thangka

At the N. Palmov National Museum of Kalmykia, the monks of the khurul performed the Chusol ritual — a ritual of purification and ablution — and the Rabne ritual of consecration, and also recited the text “Hörn negn Därk” (of the Twenty-One Taras). Before the rituals were performed, the senior administrator of “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni,” Yonten Gelung, addressed those gathered. He thanked everyone involved in preserving the Buddhist relic. “We wish to thank the Stavropol Museum and the staff of our museum for the fact that, despite this difficult year, we had the opportunity to come and contemplate the thangka, to venerate it and receive its blessing.” “Let us now all pray together that in the future this thangka will return to Kalmykia and continue to bestow its blessing upon us all,” added Yonten Gelung. On Tuesday the thangka will be transported to the G. Prozritelev and G. Prave Stavropol Museum, where it has been kept since 1946.
