“Nomin Kürdin Düütsng” will be held at the Central Khurul


On July 14, the “Nomin Kürdin Düütsng” festival (First Turning of the Wheel of the Teaching) will be held at the Central Khurul of Kalmykia - it is one of the four main Buddhist festivals connected with Buddha Shakyamuni. Festive events on this day will begin at 4:30 a.m. with the taking of the eight one-day Mahayana vows. At 8 a.m., the ritual “Määdrin ergtsin düütsing” will be held at the Central Khurul, during which monks and laypeople will circumambulate the khurul with a statue of Buddha Maitreya and the sacred Kangyur texts. At 9:00, a festive prayer service will take place. At 16:00, the BBC documentary film “The Buddha. Geniuses of the Ancient World” will be shown on the official YouTube channel of the Central Khurul “The Golden Abode of Buddha Shakyamuni”, and the festive events will conclude at 18:00 with instructions by the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia Telo Tulku Rinpoche on the theme of “The Four Noble Truths”, the broadcast of which will also take place on the official YouTube channel of the Central Khurul.
