Offerings Through Fire… Today Kalmykia Held the “Jinseg” Ritual
Lentils, barley, peas, rice, black sesame seeds, plenty of melted butter and various other substances were specially prepared and purified. Today Kalmykia held another tantric ritual, the “Jinseg.” The clergy offered the aforementioned gifts through fire to the lord of fire, the yidam Yamantaka, and to all the deities, propitiating them and asking for the necessary help. For it is believed that the deities are sure to descend upon the place where this tantric ceremony is performed.
On the eve of the ritual itself, a special grand prayer service is held. “It is very important to come to such rituals with a pure, kind motivation, praying not only for yourself and your loved ones, but offering prayers for all living beings,” the Shajin Lama of Kalmykia, Geshe Tenzin Choydak, noted, addressing the faithful.
As in previous years, the khurul was crowded today. Both young and old, with great faith in the bright and the good, took part in the “Jinseg.” It is also during this ritual that parishioners direct their petitions for their deceased loved ones, so that they may be reborn in better worlds. For this purpose, slips of paper bearing the names of the departed were committed to the ritual fire.
It is important to remember that through the fire puja vast good merit is accumulated, which will be only for the benefit of everyone🙏
The series of annual tantric rituals will continue with the “Yangdrub” ritual, which will take place in two sessions on October 5. It begins at 9:00 a.m.
