On consciousness, mind, emotions, and the practice of taking Refuge… lectures by the Venerable Geshe Jagba Gyatso continue at the Central Khurul
Such fundamental concepts as "mind", "consciousness", "types of consciousness", "virtuous emotions" and "negative afflictive emotions" were examined from the point of view of Buddhism. At the Central Khurul, daily lectures continue by the high Teacher from Drepung Gomang Monastery, Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso, who has arrived in Kalmykia. The Venerable Geshe recently completed his explanations of the text “Mind and Emotions” by the renowned Buddhist philosopher Pelmang Pandita, in which the listeners were able to gain invaluable knowledge of the traditional Buddhist science of the mind.
For three weeks now, Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso has been bestowing Teachings on the topic of “Refuge” (Kalmyk: “Itkl”). Refuge in the Three Jewels (the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha) is the foundation of foundations for becoming a Buddhist. At the same time, the Teacher notes that taking Refuge does not imply only Faith in them; it is important to adopt a moral way of life, that is, not to cause harm to others.
During the lectures, the Venerable Geshe Jagba gives a detailed explanation of all the features and nuances of the practice of taking Refuge and generating Bodhichitta (the aspiration to Awakening).
Also during these days, within the framework of these lectures, the Teacher will speak about fundamental qualities such as love, compassion, equanimity, tolerance… Everyone who wishes may join and listen. We remind you that the meetings with Geshe Lharampa Jagba Gyatso take place daily on weekdays at 18.00 (EXCEPT Monday), and on Saturday and Sunday at 15.00
